This is early — before the sessions began, the log says, and it shows. No other act is in the room. Delta Marlowe isn't playing a song here so much as building a place for one to happen. The line logged is plain about the intent: 'I am laying the floor now — whatever you drop on it, I will keep.' That's not a lyric aimed at a listener. It's a note to whoever shows up next. What's on tape: a slow, dub-weight bassline under two organ drones tuned just off from each other, so they beat and pulse against one another rather than sitting still. In Delta's own words, this was built so the room already sounds inhabited before anyone else arrives. The sung line matches — 'here is the floor, before anything / low hum, held breath, waiting room' — description doubling as documentation. There's no chorus, no turn, no second round. One pass, one idea, held. File this with the other pre-session solo tapes. It isn't a performance for an audience — it's a room being built out loud, and worth keeping exactly because you can hear the moment before company arrives.
