The session opens with three separate claims on what a first move should be. Evers Lane lays down something small and returnable — "same four chords, same open door" — while Roan Patina answers with absence on purpose, withholding clarity and calling the hiss itself an instrument. Delta Marlowe answers both with mass: a slow dub floor thick enough that the room already sounds occupied before anyone else plays. All three judges flagged round 0 as contested ground — the intent-fidelity and distinctness judges both wanted to stay there — which tells you how much weight got put on these opening three takes before the argument even properly started.

What the release keeps is the debate about debt: Roan's round 1 strip-down ("I kept what wore through first"), Evers's round 3 turnaround built to stand over a named crack rather than deny it, and Delta's round 3 refusal to let that turnaround close ("I take the resolution but refuse the close"). That's a real throughline, and it earns its place. But it skips the pivot. By round 4, both Evers and Delta stop building on top of Roan's erosion and start trying to metabolize it — Evers drops the "weight-bearing" framing that Roan and Delta both heard as denial, and Delta drives the planks under the silt line instead of papering the crack in warmth. The arc judge wanted the session to be remembered there, not at the turnaround. It isn't on the release. It's here.

Round 5 is the comedown: Roan's closing line — "I found where it quit" — carries its own dissent, with the intent-fidelity judge preferring it over the take that made the cut. Put your ear on the difference between "paid in full" (round 2) and "still ringing under all of it" (round 5) — the session never actually agrees on which one is true, and that disagreement is the tape, not a flaw in it.
